Hewlett Packard (HP) and The Star Jobs have teamed up to organize HP Career Discovery Talk, which is targeted at those who are interested with job opportunities in HP (especially in IT field) as well as imparting more understanding on HP’s work culture.HP is the only IT company in Malaysia which secured the Reader’s Digest Superbrand Award for Outstanding Brand Performance: Computer Category and Outstanding Brand Performance: Home Office Equipment Category.
HP began its operation in Malaysia almost 30 years ago in 1978 employing only a small number of employees. Today, HP has grown by leaps and bounds and to date is employing a strong 1200 work force. In the 90s the numbers were a lot higher as HP used to have one of the biggest manufacturing facilities in Bayan Lepas. HP decided to spin off that plant in 1999, which now we know as Agilent Technologies (which in 2005 sold its semiconductor wing, now known as Avago Technologies). Too many spin offs here.. my head spinning already…
In this talk also, you will get an opportunity to know about a day’s work of HP’s Managing Director, TF Chong (pic), who will be one of the speakers for the event.
TF Chong is a qualified engineer and completed a Masters in Brunel University, United Kingdom. Chong took over the helm in 2002 and overseas HP operation in Malaysia. Previously, he was the Managing Director of Compaq Malaysia (now Compaq is part of HP).
