Yes, that’s correct, folks. Over half a million, or to be exact, 560,000 jobs will be provided under the Economic Coast Economic Region (ECER) project development that will be commencing soon. Those are the words that came from the Director-General of Human Resources Department of Malaysia (MOHR), Romli Hassan when he was talking about the job opportunities that will be available once the project is on the full swing. [Full link]
Romli also said this,
“Graduates cannot say they are unemployed because there are no jobs. I cannot accept such excuses. Either they are refusing to work or are too choosy.”
So listen to the wisdom of this man. In my own estimation, if the figure is true, then if 10% of the jobs are filled by fresh graduates, then the unemployment problem among the graduate job seekers will be reduced to almost zero.
If you are new with this ECER thing, it is a government initiative to drive the economic development of the east coast region in the peninsular Malaysia that covers 4 states. Under the ECER, 205 projects will be implemented with investments estimated at RM112bil until 2020. The ECER covers Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and northern Johor.
PETRONAS, the national oil company, has been appointed as the master planner for the ECER project.
ECER runs concurrently with the NCER (Northern Corridor Economic Region) and Iskandar Development Region (south). Major industries that will be involved in the ECER development are services, manufacturing and agriculture sectors. Off course, during the development itself, construction and civil will be another sector where jobs will be abundant (unless you want all the roads and the buildings constructed by foreign workers). As the areas are also rich with rubber plantation, furniture industry is also considered as one of those with high job and business market potential.
And all those will evolve the needs for system & educational development e.g. supply chain management (logistics), educational centers and other downstream activities.
Apart from jobs, business opportunities also await for those who are thinking of joining the entrepreneurship bandwagon. Perhaps you own a very small business outfit somewhere in Kuantan, Pahang. Maybe it’s time to make a big plan ahead?

sy mnpunyai diploma dlm coz manufacturing engnring,sy skrg sdg brkje disubang sbg aircaft engine mechanic kt GE engine services, klu blh sy nk cr pluang kje kt trg, klu blh sy nk abk pluang mlalui ECER ni utk bkje ditmpt sy sndri.
