7 Career Blogs in Malaysia You May Want to Read

By Zul • Apr 29th, 2008 • Category: Featured Articles

The country lacks the number of career blogs but that does not mean there are no resourceful ones out there. The following are some examples of the career blogs in Malaysia (and run by Malaysians) you may want to read and bookmark. At least, these are the blogs that I visit on frequent basis.

Other than these 7, there are also a host of other career blogs but sadly since they need more frequent updating, they are not included here.

The blogs are arranged not in order of rank or some sort, but rather alphabetical. Some talk about career in generic while a few others are in the niche of their own. Of course, you can add this blog you’re reading as another alternative to the existing list. Additionally, feel free to suggest any other resources you have come across.

1. All The Way to the Top

All The Way Career BlogSome heavy stuff but pretty useful, especially for those who aspire to climb the corporate ladder. Interesting topics include office politics, choosing your career, entrepreneurship, grooming, ethics, leadership & management, and so on. All The Way to The Top is run and managed by a manager who works for a public listed company, and for someone who can slot some time blogging while running such a big organization, he deserves a credit for the effort.

Entry of choice: Importance of a Good Business Plan.

2. Allyhunt

AllyHunt BlogAllyhunt is a recruitment web portal, which is according to our analysis, ranked as one of the top 15 online recruitment portals in the country presently. The blog, or “News & Updates” they prefer to call it, give job seekers and visitors updates on career tips, happenings and useful articles. The most likeable part is the fact that some of the articles share the real experience and frustration of some of those in the job and employment market.

Entry of choice: Is it Okay to Lie?

3. Asia Part Time

Asia Part Time BlogQuality postings that can guide those who are active in the part time and freelancing world. As the name suggests, Asia Part Time is all about part time, as well as freelance. The founder, Lam is also behind some other career related websites including EasyFreelancing.com and AsiaSalary.com. The blog acts as a nice back end support that feed the readers with continuous tips and guides.

4. Black Zedd

Black Zedd BlogA very stylish career blog in the most unconventional way. Black Zedd never fails to impress his readers with his satire, often asking the readers to look into matters from other perspectives. A blog stuffed with ridicules, irony and sarcasm aimed at the corporate world but at the same time putting common sense in its accorded place. Certainly, one of the most interesting blogs in the list.

Entry of choice: Why My Bonus is More Than Yours.

5. Blogstreet

JobStreet.com blogBlogstreet is the official blog for JobStreet. Unlike what many would have predicted, the blog is not run on the original JobStreet domain, but rather on a separate, typepad platform. New entries are published few times in a week, on regular basis. Prominent banner advertising in JobStreet website make way for introducing the blog to JobStreet users, but unless more effort is made to capture the interest of readers, it will take long for the blog to become readers’ choice of blog.

Entry of choice: Internship Tips.

6. Malaysian Medical Resource (MMR)

Malaysian Medical BlogBlog about all things medical. MMR has a such a long and rich history with the original website started in 1996 as static pages which later evolved into a frequently updated blog. MMR is backed by multiple authors, mostly doctors. Very niche site, and one of the most popular, if not the most, websites for medical resources in Malaysia.

Entry of choice: A “Medical” Perspective on Why BN Lost in the Recent Election.

7. Strategi Kerja

Blog Strategi KerjayaThis is the only blog in the list using Bahasa Malaysia as the medium. The blog is written and maintained by an engineer, Hamizi Hamdan. Having a first experience working in many different companies in the government-link and private sectors, Hamizi has been frank and honest enough to share some of his experience and findings worth to be noted. More frequent update would be nice.

Entry of choice: Tidak Perlu Apply Kerja Dengan GLC
