70,000 New Registrations at JobsMalaysia

JobsMalaysia.gov.my, the country’s mainstream recruitment portal, has managed to attract about 70,000 new candidates, according to the Deputy Human Resources Minister, Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan.

The latest statistic revealed in the Parliament yesterday saw 69,760 job hunters registered with the job site this year. Out of the 69,760, the biggest chunk of job seekers come from public universities, with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) leading the way with more than 12,000 applicants. UUM (4,151) and UTM (2,934) followed suit.

The new additions will soar up the total figure of registration to well over 300,000 job seekers, as the portal continues to attract more and more users.

Toughest competition is expected for candidates with degree and diploma, with each represented by 36,985 and 31,592 candidates. More than 1,000 registered job seekers hold masters and less than 20 possess doctorates degree and PhD.

Previously known as Electronic Labour Exchange (ELX), JobsMalaysia was developed under the initiative of the Human Resources Minister to provide an online platform that matches job seekers’ skills, qualifications and experience to the available jobs in the country offered by both private and government sectors.

According to the information in the website, by Nov 2009, more than 22,000 jobs have been filled through JobsMalaysia.
