First and foremoest, Shell is one of the multinational companies that are committed to come down and talk to graduating students directly. They are often seen to be participating in major universities’ career fairs, giving talks and guidelines to the potential job seekers. If you happen to stumble upon them during one of these fairs, talk to them and ask if there’s a Shell job application that you can fill in.

As you know, Shell is not only looking for people who are good academically, but also strong in extra curricular and having good leadership skills and personality. Hence, getting a first class honors degree does not guarantee you job in Shell.

Another route to becoming a Shell employee is through Shell Gourami Challenge. Gourami Challenge is an assessment consisting of business and technical challenges that puts university students through situation that stimulates the working environment in the business world. The students were assessed throughout the challenge by Shell employees, and also had interviews with separate assessors after the challenge.

Gourami, a fictional country bordering the Indian Ocean, is the setting for Shell Business Challenge. Participants are tasked with developing and presenting a five-year business strategy to senior Shell Leaders. Working with an international team of talented undergraduates and Shell staff, this exciting opportunity gives you the chance to find out first hand what the energy business is all about and to see how you would cope at the sharp end of an international business.

The 2006 Shell Gourami Challenge was held in Kota Kinabalu involving some 49 students from different countries including Australia, China, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore. They were split into different project teams and asked to come up with a unified strategic business plan for Shell’s operations in the fictional island of Gourami.

Those whom the company feels have what it takes will be offered jobs upon graduation.

And also, there is a well maintained Shell Online Job Application Centre, useful for students as well as experienced professionals where you can browse through some of the vacancies available, and make application online too.

And one more thing you need to know. If you apply for jobs in Shell and your application is not successful, according to the Shell term you can apply back after 2 years period passes.
