Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is one the very few institutions in the country which exhibits a clear process of hiring and recruitment for public view.

While the is no apparent evidence that says the steps are duly adhered and implemented, establishing such a workflow is the right step towards becoming an employer of choice, and sends the right message across to the candidates that the company is treating the hiring process seriously.

A candidate applying for a position in Bank Negara will undergo a few rounds of recruitment processes, which are generally divided into 3 main sections. The first section, called the Filtering or the Preliminary step, involved more on paper or resume screening, where the candidate’s academic qualification, working experience and professional requirements are screened through. Candidates may also be called up for the first round of interview.

For most of the professional positions, as the pre-requisites, candidates are required to obtain 3.0 CGPA (2nd Class Upper or equivalent) in the tertiary education, as well as scoring a Credit in English and Bahasa Malaysia for SPM.

Once he or she passes the initial screening, the candidate will be called for the next screening process, which involves a round of paper assessment, as well as a behavioral interview session. Note that a behavioral based interview assesses the character, personality and communication ability rather than your technical skills.

Candidates who pass the assessment and the interview will be shortlisted, and upon approval from the management (Human Resource and the hiring division), an offer will be extended and an offer letter will follow.
