Black Friday is a special day for shopping. If you love shopping, you would find Black Friday rather satisfying as you can get all the stuff you want at reduced prices. This is usually celebrated in US and it falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Black Friday also marks the beginning of Christmas shopping in US.
If you are in US and thinking about participating in Black Friday sales, be sure to check out these phrases or also known as ‘fine prints’ before you make any purchase.
“While supplies last”
“Minimum 2 per store”
“No rainchecks”
“All items are available in limited quantities”
These phrases are being used by most retailers to encourage more people to buy their stuff. Why?
Let’s do an experiment.
When you read “While supplies last”, what comes into your mind?
a. This is a bargain, which is why people are rushing for it.
b. There is limited supply.
Put aside logic, we would have thought (a). However, if you are smart enough, you won’t fall for these phrases.
This is a sleazy tactic by the retailers.
There is no such thing as “All items are available in limited quantities”. In fact there should be enough supplies for all during Black Friday sales as retailers are prepared for Black Friday.
There have been deaths every time Black Friday approaches. There is no reason for someone to die during shopping season due to stampede (by the large crowd).
If you want to do your shopping, it is advisable to shop before Black Friday or after Black Friday but never on Black Friday itself.
