A blind graduate who has just completed his degree in Universiti Malaya, UM, is looking for volunteers who would read to the blind, so that the materials can be reproduced into Braille for other visually challenged people.
S Prakash, who was diagnosed with retinoblastoma after he was born, underwent a surgery while he was still a baby, but both of his eyes went blind from thereon.
Life has not been easy but Prakash worked hard and make a remarkable turnaround after finishing his studies, and is now aiming to create a conducive life long learning environment for the disabled and assist people with special needs in getting education.
Apart from paying serious attention to academic, Prakash was also aggressive to fight for the needs of the special students, and it came as no surprise when he was elected as the Deputy President for the UM’s Special Students Representative. He was instrumental in pushing the university to set up a computer laboratory for the visually challenged students in the university. He obtained a Degree majoring in Malay Grammar and Literature.
If you are living somewhere around Klang Valley and are willing to offer your help, you can contact Prakash by emailing his representative at rajum82@yahoo.com.
