Brian Tracy – opportunities are everywhere

In his book, Create Your Own future, Brian Tracy wrote that there are opportunities everywhere around us. Some just pass by without us even noticing it, while some others come and grabbing someone’s attention near you.

He quoted an example of a young man who was planning to start his own business and attended a seminar on entrepreneurship. In the seminar he learnt that 95 percent of all products manufactured in any country are never exported. He also learnt that there are thousands of new products being invented and marketed throughout Europe and Far East every year that nobody in America ever hears about.

He decided to hook up a group of European manufacturers who were seeking distributorship in the US. He knew something about gardening and when he came across a new, high quality and inexpensive wheelbarrow, he knew that there is a market for United States.

He asked for a sample and put it in a showcase, but since he could not afford paying for the booth, he asked one of the participants to allow him displaying his wheelbarrow in their booth. Later, a group of buyers fo major store chain came by, saw the wheelbarrow, and immediately saw the potential for it. They ordered a total of 64,000 units of wheelbarrow.

The young man made 20 dollars for each wheelbarrow. So, for 64,000 units, he made more than a million dollars.

Know this: the more you study your field and learn the key skills you require for success, the more knowledgable and alert you will be. You will be more readily recognized opportunities when they appear in front of you.
