The British Chevening Scholarships are offered to international students in 150 countries out of United Kingdom, including Malaysia. This is part of the effort to bring more students to gain experience getting education exposure in the UK and is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council.
Awarded to over 2000 students annually, the scholarship is available for those pursuing Masters in established universities and colleges in United Kingdom on full time basis. To date, more than 1000 Malaysian students have benefited from the Chevening Scholarship Award since 1984.
To qualify for the scholarship award, you need to at least obtain a 2nd Class Upper in your degree as well as supported by some significant employment and working experience. Most of the scholarship recipients are of between 25 to 35 years old of age. The scholarship is not available for those who plan to pursue their studies in undergraduate courses (e.g. degree or below) or those who plan to do a part time courses.
The scholarship for the 2007/2008 is already closed. At the moment, no application form for the 2008/2009 academic year is available to be downloaded but the recruitment process will commence within the next 1 or 2 months so you can watch out the space. Once further information about this scholarship is available, I’ll let you guys know.
