Denmark is the World’s Happiest Country

A recent survey conducted by a psychologist from University of Leicester, United Kingdom, Adrian White, found out that Denmark has the happiest nation as compared to other countries in the world.
Abundant of wealth, low poverty level, quality of education, natural beauty, working environment and access to good healthcare services have been identified as major factors that pleased the Europe based nation.
The world’s biggest economy, United States ranked at a rather poor position at 23rd, thanks to its nagging poverty issue, as well as deteriorating healthcare services. Except Brunei, major Asian countries were also lowly ranked with China at 82, Japan 90 and India 125.
In the study, a series of statistical data, using a concept called Subjective-Well Being, or in short SWB, which is a niche in economic and psychology research were tabulated. The respondents for the research were made up of 80,000 people worldwide. The data was used to develop the “World Map of Happiness”, the first of its kind.
The top 10 happiest countries, according to the research, is as follows:
- Denmark
- Switzerland
- Austria
- Iceland
- Bahamas
- Finland
- Sweden
- Bhutan
- Brunei
- Canada
With most of the top 10 countries coming from the European continent and Nordic countries, Brunei makes a surprise entry after been ranked 9th. The Brunei government has been making use of the nation wealth, oil, wisely and has played a major role in creating happiness among the citizens. Unlike its neighboring countries Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia, Brunei has been providing free education and medical services for a long time.
