Get Fired for Posting on Facebook

There is not enough emphasis on why you should be careful when posting “statuses” on your Facebook account. Posting something that is meant as a joke might just get you fired!

This is exactly what happened to a dispatcher of the police and fire departments in Wisconsin.

Apparently the dispatcher posted on her Facebook page that indicated,

“she is addicted to vicodin, adderall, quality marijuana, MD 20/20 grape and absinthe”

For this reason alone, she is fired.

The city is definitely not happy to have her.

This is why Facebook can be a friend and a foe, depending on how you use it. It is never safe to post something so sensitive even though it is meant as a joke. It is definitely not safe to post something that is related to work.

It is also not recommended to insult your boss or co-workers on Facebook. Facebook is accessible by everyone.

Save yourself from all the troubles by keeping your Facebook page as clean as possible. It would be great if you make use of the privacy feature (learn how to use it!). That way, you can enjoy Facebook-ing, without the controversy.
