Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows makes JK Rowling’s smile broader.

The final volume of Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling is finally here and creates bigger frenzy among the fans more than ever. Amazingly enough, the book became a best seller even before the book was officially released for sale.

Few hours ago, a radio news stated that a kid almost drowned after jumping into a lake when his copy of the latest Harry Potter’s book receipt fell into the lake. Thousands of people were also seen camping outside of the Waterstones Bookstore in London while here in Malaysia, MPH and Popular Bookstore do not sell the books to public and the book is only available to those who made pre-bookings.

Kudos to JK Rowling who has successfully elevated the reading habit into a completely new level. Few know the humble beginning of this writer, who before the release of her very first Harry Potter book, was a struggling mother and an unemployed living on welfare.

You see, Rowling loves writing and she started writing stories when she was 6 years old, but she never completed any of the novels until she turned 30! She managed to complete her first novel (which was that first Harry Potter book) while she was unemployed and living on state benefits, at the same time having to feed her daughter.

The manuscript was submitted to 12 publishing houses and was rejected by all of them, one after another. It seemed Harry Potter was deemed for an early failure. Nevertheless, she did not give up and continue to promote her book. Only a year later, a small publishing company was willing to print her book, after Rowling gave a free chapter to the daughter of the company’s owner.

The rest is history as Harry Potter became an overnight success after the book was published. The publishing houses that rejected to publish the Harry Potter books were left kicking themselves and every word used to turn down Harry Potter cost them millions. J.K Rowling now is the richest woman in Britain, and is currently the only writer in the world who made more than USD1 billion through writing. Her contribution in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be the perfect farewell and will be remembered and the name JK Rowling will remain as one of the most prolific writers of all time.
