IBM’s JAZZ for Software Developers

Life as a software developer may get more interesting after this after IT giant, IBM introduced a new application called Jazz, which allows developers and engineers to communicate and collaborate in real time.

IBM defines Jazz as its Rational project that builds scalable and extensible team collaboration platform, integrating work across multiple functions and phases of development lifecycle.

With Jazz, different teams working on the similar project but are separated by countries or regions can communicate and coordinate their work seamlessly. The project leaders can also assess and evaluate the progress of the project in an instant snapshot rather than relying on generated reports.

In summary, Jazz will increase efficiency, enhance effectiveness, elevate productivity, reduce lag and development time, improve communication and reduce the possibility of errors.

Among of the tools introduced with Jazz are instant messaging software, documentation storage, status report, work cycle platform and checklist, picked up from best of the breed features based on different platforms. IBM Rational Team Concert was the very first product which is based on the Jazz platform.

Software engineers, developers and students can download a free version at their website, www.jazz.net.
