High flying executive, Idris Jala, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), will be made a senator and appointed as a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

He will undertake the responsibility to oversee the KPI initiatives, working alongside Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon, who is now in charge of National Unity and Performance Management portfolio. Idris will report to the latter on KPI related issues.

Idris’ official role will be the chief executive of Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), which is the organization that regulates and monitors the KPI implementation.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin has consented to their appointment, which was announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

From a low profile background, Idris Jala rose to prominence after being appointed as the new chief of Malaysia Airlines, and drove one of the most remarkable turnarounds in the country’s corporate history.
