1. Deloitte

As you might have known, Deloitte is one of the Big 4 firms that provides a range of professional financial services that include audit, tax, consulting and advisory services. Deloitte Malaysia employs over 1000 employees throughout Malaysia and is operating in 8 offices nationwide. It comes as a no surprise that their latest hiring focus on those job candidates having a background in financial related services. Some of the vacancies available:

2. Motorola

A Fortune 500 company, Motorola is one of the major manufacturers of mobile products and developers of wireless technology. A good learning place indeed as they always keep up with the latest technological advanced including the latest development of WIMAX. Motorola used to have semiconductor business but sold off their semiconductor business, which was based in PJ before. The sold off semiconductor wing is now what we know as Freescale Semiconductor.

The main engineering positions are based in their main manufacturing plant in Bayan Lepas, Penang, while the software and IT related positions are based in Cyberjaya. Some of the vacancies available:

1. Product/Senior Product Engineers

• Degree (or above) in Electrical, Electronic or Communication Engineering with min 2 years of working experience
• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience that enables support in production in manufacturing and testing of quality products
• Experience and ability to coordinate and carry out new product releases or transfers within the stipulated time
• Exposure in the RF (Radio Frequency) is an advantage

2. Test/Senior Test Engineers (Penang)

• Need candidates with programming skills plus knowledge in RF and digital background

• Degree (or higher) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, analytical mind and coupled with systematic approach for problem solving and trouble shooting

3. Senior Electrical Engineers (Penang)

• Candidates with knowledge and exposure with one of the following RF (Radio Frequency) domains: Transmitter, Receiver, VCO/Synthesizer, GPS or Bluetooth
• Experience in cellular phone, WIMAX, WLAN, GSM or EVDO technology an added advantage
• Degree (or above) in Electrical, Electronic, Computer or Telecommunication Engineering with min 3 years of working experience.

4. Business Operations Analysts (Penang)

• Candidates with proficiency in MS Office tools including Excel, Outlook, Word and Power Point
• Good knowledge or routine office procedures especially in the setting up and maintenance of effective filing systems
• Systematic, people oriented and able to work with minimum supervision

5. Software Engineers (Cyberjaya)

• Degree (or above) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Communications or Information Technology with 2 years of working experience
• Working knowledge in one or more of the followings: Telecommunications, Networking Protocols, Web/Java, OOA/OOD, Relational Databases, Call Processing in Wireless Network and Managed Applications
• The incumbent will be responsible for the requirement analysis, design, implementation, unit test and component test of software modules
• Fresh graduates with good academic results/CGPA are also applied.

6. Software Quality Engineers, SQE (Cyberjaya)

• The job requires the person to interact with Project Groups to ensure adherence to software development processes; support and upkeep product quality, process improvement and software engineering practices using the CMMI model.
• Utilize measurement and statistical techniques to identify quality trends and potential risks
• Someone with experience developing Software Automation Tools for optimization and possession of Black or Green Belt will have an advantage

3. OCBC

OCBC is Singapore’s longest established bank, with its Malaysia head office prominently located right next to the Masjid Jamek LRT station, Lebuh Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. OCBC has been in the Malaysia market over 70 years and is one of the top foreign banks in Malaysia at the moment. OCBC also owns one of the biggest insurance groups, Great Eastern Holdings.

In this round of recruitment, OCBC is looking to add more fresh talents by inviting those with MBA and Masters qualifications with minimal experience (well, if you call 2 years minimal) to become their apprentice, under a program they call it as Management Associate Program (MAP). The program includes the successful candidates undergoing orientation, and a rotated attachment and on job trainings before resuming their work in OCBC. The program also allows the candidates to taste working experience in different divisions such as Audit, Business Banking, Consumer Financial Services, Human Resources, Operations and Technology and so on.

Other requirements include:

• An MBA or Masters degree from recognized institutions
• At least 2 years of working experience (any field but banking will be an added advantage)
• Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal.

4. Shell

Shell Malaysia Trading, Sarawak Shell and Shell Shared Service Center, Kuala Lumpur (SSSC-KL) have combined in a full page Shell job advertisement. Here are some descriptions of each of the unit and the jobs currently available:

1. Shell Malaysia Trading

Shell Malaysia Trading, whose main function is to refine, supply and ship crude oil and petroleum products has been established over 100 years in Malaysia. The company also markets and sells transportation fuels, lubricants, specialty products and technical services.

Position: B2C OEM Account Manager

This is a sales & marketing job. To be based in Kuala Lumpur, the person will be placed under B2C division (Business to Consumer) and is responsible to develop and expand the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) businesses in Malaysia. The position requires the candidate to be traveling at a rate of between 30-40%.

2. Sarawak Shell Berhad

Sarawak Shell was incorporated in July 1921 and is wholly owned by Shell Petroleum Company Limited, and its main job function is to carry out the offshore exploration in Sabah & Sarawak. There are currently 2 positions available:

Position: Economist

The position needs the candidate to be able to evaluate the economic and financial impacts of fields under development, both in exploration projects and production. He or she also needs to develop and maintain the economic models for the respective Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) for the yearly Business Plan exercise. To qualify for the position, you need to have a Degree in Engineering, Geo-Sciences, Economic or related areas. Preference will be given to those who possess technical degree with at least 5 years of working experience in Oil and Gas industry.

Position: Internal Audit – Technical Auditor

The person will be responsible to lead and participate in the group/regional audits of other Shell Operating Units as part of Shell Internal Audit. Other implementation includes audit process from the drafting of Term of Reference to the final issue of the audit report. The person also needs to provide independent assurance to business regarding the effectiveness of the system of risk management and internal control by performing audit assignments. As part of the academic requirement, you need to have at least a Degree or professional qualifications in Engineering related fields with at least 8 years of working experience in engineering-related activities in the Oil & Gas Industry.

3. Shell Shared Service Center, Kuala Lumpur (SSSC-KL)

Shell Shared Service Center (SSSCK-KL) is the processing center for Shell companies globally and is centered in Shell House (same place with the HQ). SSSC-KL provides accounting, payroll and customer service to the Shell companies in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Oceania region. At the moment, SSSC-KL employs more than 500 people and is still growing. Positions available:

Financial Accounting/Analyst.

The person will be responsible for the financial accounting and reporting. The work scope also covers group reporting, accounting policy and standards, with use of the SAP system handy. Other areas include the Treasury and Inventory Management – stocks valuation or stocks reconciliation.

Additionally, you are also responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements. You need to have good understanding of Generally accepted Accounting Principles, IFRS as well as financial systems capability and logic. The technical knowledge in Financial Reporting Standards will be compulsory.

Financial Reporting & Analysis.

Job scope covers the Financial Reporting, Management Accounting, Taxation and General Ledger. The job also requires you to have good knowledge of accounting policy and standards – GAAP and IFRS. As SAP system is used at large, familiarity with SAP modules will be a definite advantage. To apply for the job, you need to have a min of 4 years of working experience, with good understanding of financial systems capability and logic, while sound understanding in Financial Reporting & Financial Accounting a must. On top of that, you need to be willing to be located overseas, especially in Singapore for training, for a period of 2 months.

5. Hewlett Packard (HP)

Few weeks ago, I wrote that HP was recruiting for their Cyberjaya center. And yes, they are still recruiting now. This is understandable as the center is a major one and it takes a while (if not forever) for all the positions to be filled up. The positions advertised this time is almost similar, with the exception of one additional position:

Deep Technical Support Engineers.

The person will be responsible to implement and support collaboration and knowledge management applications, systems and products in a state-of-the-art environment. Routine scope also includes deep technical support, problem management and change management.

Requirements:

• 2 years of experience (or above) in application support, problem and change management and previous experience in a large production and operations environment
• Candidates with ITIL certification is highly desired
• Knowledge in Microsoft Operating System (OS), SQL, SharePoint WSS, MSCS and Lotus Notes
• Exposure in planning, implementation, maintenance and support of automation routines, business applications, application components, databases, high availability and disaster & business recovery plans.
