Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has been ranked the top corporation in the World’s Most Admired Companies for the pharmaceutical industry in 2008.
The company displaced Novartis AG International, which occupied the top spot in the 2007 ranking. J&J was second last year and both switched places in the latest standing.
The Most Admired Companies Award is the brainchild of Fortune, an international magazine published by Time Inc. company. The global magazine has been in circulation since more than 70 years ago.
Some of the criteria taken account for the ranking consideration is people management, innovation, corporate asset usage, environment and community, management quality, financial soundness, product quality and global presence.
An American-based company, Johnson and Johnson is a global pharmaceutical company and a manufacturer of FMCG products and brands including Johnson’s baby product lines, Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Acuvue, Band-Aid and many more. The corporation also owns a massive number of over 200 subsidiary companies operating in more than 50 countries worldwide.
