TaxSaya Alternative to Income Tax Payers
By SKORCAREER • Apr 3rd, 2008 • Category: Featured Articles •
TaxSaya is an application software developed as an alternative for tax payers to fill tax information and calculate their LHDN income tax return. It is downloadable to your local hard drive and runs without the need of internet connection, just like using Excel, Word and so on.
TaxSaya is a brainchild of an MSC-status company, EA-Link System, which is a software house with expertise in developing solutions for the Malaysian tax industry since the last 5 years.
Presently, to submit your LHDN income tax, you can do so through 2 main methods:
- Filling up your tax form (e.g. Borang BE 2007 or Borang B) manually
- Use e-Filing i.e. online tax submission via web-based application
Now, you have TaxSaya as another option. But you must understand here that TaxSaya is not an absolute substitute for either of the above (Yes, you can use the TaxSaya form to fill up your tax information, print out the form (TaxSaya is essentially the BE form, only perhaps in a better interface), and send it to LHDN, but with some catch. Read on). What it offers is a step by step guide and gives you perhaps an easier and more user friendly interface, rather than skimming through the original LHDN tax form which at times can be mind boggling.
TaxSaya comes with its own attractive features. The most interesting part of the software is the English and Chinese languages it offers, as opposed to only Bahasa Melayu for the normal LHDN tax form (Yes, isn’t a wonder why LHDN does not produce form in multiple languages for a multi-lingual country?). As you fill up the section of the form, the software will, in the end automatically calculate the amount of tax payable without you having to go through the hassle of calculating your tax.

TaxSaya comes in 2 versions. The first is the free version, and the second is an upgrade version, where users need to pay RM20.08 (why the 8 cents my friend?) for it and in return will be provided with additional features such as access to tax optimization, saving work in PDF format, and so on. The folks behind the software also set up a forum, where tax payers can discuss issues, problems and raise their inquiries online.
Now, the catch part is; if you were to use TaxSaya to print and send it to LHDN, you must use the Bahasa Malaysia version. However, this version is only available in the paid version (RM20.08). Well, as the saying goes, there really is no such thing as free lunch.

SKORCAREER reply on April 10th, 2008:
It’s probably best for you to raise this in TaxSaya’s forum.
Hi,
Firstly, thanks so much SKORCAREER for the wonderful writeup on TAXSAYA, your support it is greatly appreciated.
Secondly, to Cheah Swee Hoon, if you did not receive your Borang BE then there a few possibilities:
a) You used the e-Filing last year
b) It got lost in the mail
Either way, you should be able to download a copy from the LHDNM website (http://www.hasil.org.my/cP/upload/Form/Nyata/BorangBE2007.pdf)
Please do not forget to download your free copy of TAXSAYA to help you to complete your form faster.
