The MNRB scholarship is funded by MNRB to SPM/STPM leavers and foundation level students.
MNRB was formerly known as Malaysian National Reinsurance Berhad until a restructuring program in 2005 changed its name to MNRB Holdings Berhad and its function as an investment holding company. MNRB is listed in the main board of Bursa Malaysia and is a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).
Just in case you are not sure what reinsurance means, it refers to an exercise by an insurance company protecting itself against risk of losses by getting insurance from a reinsurer. (What, an insurance company also needs insurance?).
The scholarship award provided by MNRB is offered to those students who have completed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and Matriculation and intend to pursue their studies in Matriculation/Foundation, Diploma, Degree or other Professional qualifications on a full time basis. The courses must be done in acknowledged and recognized learning institutions.
Fields of study applicable are: Accountancy, Engineering, Economic, Actuarial Science, Human Resource Management, Insurance/Risk Management and Marketing.
The fund covers the tuition fees (MNRB fund will pay the actual fee amount for public universities while those studying in private universities or colleges can get up to RM8,000 per year of sponsorship) and allowance (RM8,000 per year for local Matriculation or Diploma courses and RM10,000 per year for First Degree and Professional courses).
You can use trial SPM/STPM results
Yes, interested applicants can apply the scholarship using the trial SPM or STPM results which meet the selection criteria, which are as follows:
- Age 23 years old and below at the time of application
- Obtained at least 2A in SPM in at least 6 subjects taken that include English, Science and Mathematics, or at least 3As and pass the General Paper in STPM, or at least a cumulative CGPA of 3.5 for Matriculation or Diploma
- Must not be a recipient of any other scholarship, loan or funding
As a pre-requisite of the application, candidates must write a short 1 page essay describing the reasons for applying for the scholarship, benefits of the course undertaken as well as further education and career plan. The essay must be in English and written on a separate sheet of paper.

hi, i am a student facing spm this year.
as reference,
i am going to further my study which i will join the American degree transfer programme(acturial science).
well as we all know these programme do requires quite a high fee waiver, and thus i am here to do a survey
that how much of fund will i get annually if i get to receive the scholarship award.
besides, what is the requirements to receive this scholarship?i mean how should my results be as to increase my possibility to receive this scholarship?
