The Malaysia government, through the Finance Ministry has rejected the proposal by Khazanah Nasional Berhad to increase the salary of a number of GLC’s top executives and officials.
Among those who would have been affected with the increase, as reported around the cyber space and in a number of mainstream media news are TNB’s CEO, Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh and the CFO, Datuk Izzadin Idris.
They were said to get an increment of 100%, which means their salary will be doubled.
The proposal has raised public uproar, mostly from those who were outraged with the timing of the pay hike implementation. The increment rate of 100% increase also reflected a sense of insensitivity towards the low income earners and the country financial instability at the moment. On top of that, TNB’s employee union expressed its dissatisfaction with the plan to increase the salary of its staff by merely 3%.
