O2 is UK’s Best Telco Company to Work

O2 was named as the best company to work in the United Kingdom for the telecommunication industry in 2008. It beats its close rival, Vodafone UK.
In coming up with the ranking, The Times, which is the official surveyor and publisher, interviewed staff in various organizations, assessed and evaluate if the company has what it takes to be regarded as the best company.
Among of the questions asked in the survey are related to the salary and compensation, benefits, holidays, leave, bonuses, health and insurance coverage, company discounts, share option scheme, environmental commitment, work environment and relationship with the top management.
O2 today employs more than 12,000 employees, with approximately equal distribution between male and female staff. Its United Kingdom head office is located in Slough.
The company offers a healthy range of between 23 to 33 days of holidays per year (depending on years of service and position rank), full paid 14-week maternity leave, performance-related bonus, subsidized gym membership, critical illness coverage, contributory pension scheme, dental insurance and handsome discounts on company products.
The O2 staff also has a strong sense of bonding, and the relationship between the co-workers are somehow close, like family. Frequent trips and group luncheons are organized to build closer rapport and as a formal team-building exercises. The high scores accorded by the employees of the company demonstrate the company’s reputation as one of the best companies to work.
