A job fair, entitled MyCareer and Education Fair (MYCEF) 2008 is coming to Penang at the end of this month.
PISA (Penang International Sports Arena) will be the venue, and the event is to be held between 25 to 27 April 2008 (Friday to Sunday). With 300 meter-square size and capacity to accommodate 13,000 people at a time, PISA is the largest multi-purpose indoor venue in the northern region of Peninsula Malaysia.
The career fair, co-organized and managed by People Source (a recruitment agency) and My Events (event manager), aims to create a platform for opportunities between the government and private sectors in the education and working industry to address the unemployment issues in Malaysia.
Companies and organizations that have confirmed their participation include, among others: EDS IT Services, Flextronics, HSBC, JobStreet.com, Mesiniaga, OCBC, RHB Bank, Scope International, Robert Bosch, Silterra, SONY EMCS and UOB. Other exhibitors include recruitment agencies, government linked companies, higher learning institution, distant learning providers and so on.
According to the official MYCEF website, job seekers would get an opportunity to seek jobs in overseas, in addition to local openings for fresh graduates and experienced professionals.
In the event, job seekers will also be able to get your resume assessed by Resume Doctors or nurses, whatever you want to call them, who would leverage the advice to you on getting things right with your resume in a resume clinic. It wasn’t said where these doctors would come from but it’s likely JobStreet.com will be involved at some point. As this is a good opportunity to know if you’re having a resume that can market yourself effectively, you can miss this at your own risk.
