Resignation Letter (24-Hour Notice)

Usually, the normal resignation notice ranges between 1 to 3 months. If you were to leave earlier than the notice, then you will have to pay back salary in lieu.

At times, for some reason, your employer may allow you to leave without paying your dues. You should discuss with them about the settlement and if you’re leaving in good terms, you may not have to pay back anything.

Why leave earlier? There can be many reasons for this. Unhappiness, discontentment, relocation, personal matters and so on. But perhaps the most common is your new employer could not wait for 1 month and ask you to report to work within 24 hours. In this case, normally, this new employer will be more than happy to pay the amount in lieu to your employer, so you end up paying nothing.

Following is an example of a 24 hour notice resignation letter. Brief and concise.

To Whom It May Concern,

I hereby tender my notice of 24-hour resignation. As my official notice stipulated in my letter of employment is 1 month, I shall fulfil my obligation to pay the salary in lieu as will be instructed by the company.

I am aware that my short notice of resignation might cause inconvenience on your end but your understanding in this matter is highly appreciated. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the company for giving me the opportunity to work with an outstanding organization.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Resigning Now.
