A recent survey indicated that Plano, Texas is the best city for anyone in the United States to build a fortune and get rich.
It was followed by Aurora, Colorado, in second, and Omaha, Nebraska, came in third place.
Among of the factors taken into consideration are average salary, unemployment rate, cost of living, average poverty level, balance between work and family, education system, residential comfort and median time to travel to work.
The research also found out that New York City is the last city that can make you rich, while 2 other major metropolitans, Washington DC and Los Angeles completed the bottom three. The finding has somehow rejected the notion of the big cities being ‘the lands of opportunities’, as popularly believed.
While statistics are showing that employees in New York, Washington and Los Angeles receive the highest average salary compared to other cities in the US, the skyrocketing cost of living, and the stretching of dollar shrink one’s possibility of building wealth and become rich.
The survey was conducted to rank 69 cities in America having populations of over 250,000 people.
Plano is not the largest cities in Texas – it is ninth in terms of size, but is home to a few large multinational corporations such as Frito-Lay (a subsidiary of PepsiCo), Dr Pepper Snapple Group, and movie giant Cinemark.
