The British Chevening Scholarships are offered to top achieving graduates and young professionals to pursue their studies in the United Kingdom. At the moment, more than 100 countries have access to the scholarships with more than 1,000 awards given out every year to deserving applicants.
The Malaysia’s British Chevening Scholarships are now open for the academic year 2010/2011 and suitable applicants can begin to submit their application, specifically those who are pursuing one-year Masters or short term postgraduate courses at a British university.
Candidates must scored at least a second class division in their first degrees to be eligible applying for the scholarship. Additionally, he or she needs to have at least 2 years of professional experience, with proven list of track record and achievements. Those who are also active outside of the curriculum world such as sports, cultural and community efforts would be given preference.
The scholarships will cover tuition fees, return airfare to United Kingdom, monthly living allowance and other associated allowances which would be detailed out to successful applicants.
Among the courses preferred include climate security, counter terrorism, science, innovation, crime prevention, business & finance, economy, human rights, democracy and sustainable development.
Closing date is 25 September 2009 for public servants and 9 October for the general public.
