Yahoo Found New CEO

Yahoo Inc. has found a new CEO to replace the dislodged incumbent, Jerry Yang, who step down from his position in November 2008.

Carol Bartz, who is the former CEO of Autodesk, one of the most successful computer-aided design software houses in the world, has been appointed as the new CEO.

Forbes named Carol among one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the world for the year 2005 during which she was still serving as Autodesk CEO.

The dynamic and energetic Carol also serves in the board of directors for a number of multinationals including Cisco, Intel, NetApp and the Foundation for the National Medals of Science. She is a computer science graduate from the University of Wisconsin.

Jerry Yang is one of the co-founders of Yahoo and is also one of the earliest billionaires born through the internet business. During his tenure as the CEO, he turned down an offer from Microsoft to acquire the company at a record deal, amounting close to $50 billion takeover, and again poured cold water in a second attempt as the former was trying to compete with the rising star of the internet, Google Inc.

Microsoft has since withdrawn their offer and Yang’s conduct has angered the investors who had begun asking the board to remove him as the chief executive. He will be having a hard time pondering his fate as someone who is removed from a company that he started.
