You are Closer to Your Dream, Yet…

Few days ago while browsing some of the bloggers’ writings, I stumbled upon Patric Chan’s blog writing. Actually I have been a follower of his blog and subscribed to his mailing list but this is the first time I was moved to write something about it.

Patric is a Malaysian guy who made his name abroad as a motivator and speaker and is perhaps more popular outside of his own country. In his quest to becoming what he is today, Patric has invested his time and money attending courses and seminars conducted by the likes of Anthony Robins and Robert Kiyosaki. Today, it is his turn to travel around the world and give talks and seminars to other people.

In his blog, Patric wrote about his experience seeing one of his old buddies who seemingly had forgotten his dream of becoming financially independence through a promising MLM venture. 3 years back, he was an all motivated MLM marketer. Today, he is back being a full time employee, working for other people.

When I think of that, it scares me because I can see myself in this guy. When we think of negative things associated with the world of business and entrepreneurship, half of our mind will be contemplating to get back to our comfort zone. In this case, getting back to the comfort zone means leaving the hardship of the entrepreneurship world and get back to the working world. It is even more compelling when we have the so-called good education and qualifications that can support our entry in the employment market.

Look. We are not condemning those people who are working for other people and making other people rich. I know when your entrepreneurship blood is thick enough, sometimes we say things which are not that fun to hear. For example, saying things like job gives you income for dummies. In my JOB is Just Over Broke? entry before, I said life is about choices. You decide what you want to be. You decide where you want to go. As for me, I like my profession as a consultant but I hate the idea of routine work going in and out of the office, in a company I don’t own. I prefer to work using my own system, which at times use less resources and less time but with higher productivity and results. In other words, I have turned the profession from a mere job to an exciting venture.

The rule of employment is always true.

In 5 Reasons Why You Need to Find Another Job, we learn that we own the profession but we don’t own the company. You cannot run your profession using any system as you please as long as you work with a company that you have no ownership. You must follow the system. The good thing is, if you leave the company, you can run your profession using any other ways and systems you like. And I treasure this the most.

Achieving your dreams involve a great deal of obstacles and adversities and if we’re willing to pay the price, it will eventually be in our hands. If we are not willing to pay the price, we can go back to our comfort zone and forget our dream of reaching the stars. Whatever you do, and whatever you plan to do, consider your end goal. Look back and realize what your dream is.

In your pursue of success, you’re going to be battered with obstacles one after another like nobody’s business. I’m not freaking you out. I’m telling you straight to your face so that you’re all prepared and will know how to overcome them. - Patric

Another thing is that, if we want to start something, start with the end in mind.

  1. You are closer to your dream, yet..very interesting
topic.Currently, I’m running the business but I’m stil working. My business partner run the operations for the time being. And I plan to quit from my current job and give full time commitment to my business by end of this year.

At the beginning stage, there are so many obstacles in so many ways which sometimes can make us getting very very upset. But we must think positive. The business is still new, 6 months old. I have my own dream…now I’m in the midst of acheiving it.

Give ourself a target. We can work with others and get some experiences. After a certain period, we must change..we need to do something for our own
    ..thats what I’m doing now….wish me success…

  2. Good luck Lina. If you can face the challenges and not quit, sooner or later you will achieve your goal.

Starting a business is easy. In fact I’ve seen countless number of friends who ’started a business’. The main challenge will be to sustain it. Will it still be there in the next 5 years? Or will us be back on the starting grid?
